Your right to information
On 1 July 2010 the Government Information Public Access (GIPA) Act 2009, a new right to information legislation,
came into effect. This replaces the former Freedom of Information Act 1989.
The new law:
- creates new rights to information that are designed to meet community expectations of more open and transparent government
- encourages government agencies to proactively release government information.
Accessing our agency’s information
Redfern-Waterloo Authority publishes a range of information on this website under the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009.
How to Access information
To obtain information, you can either search our website to see if it is already available online, or contact us and ask for the information.

Informal release of information
Members of the public may contact RWA and ask for information. This is known as an informal request. RWA may release information informally, subject to any reasonable conditions. Please note that copy charges apply ($1.10 per A4 sheet).
Formal Applications
Application for formal access to RWA information under the GIPA Act can be made by lodging a formal Access Application Form, along with a $30 application fee.
Processing charges cost $30 per hour after the first hour. An internal review of a reviewable decision costs $40.
Applicants should be precise about the information they want to access so as to enable the correct information to be identified.

Contractors list:
All contracts valued at more than $150,000 that the Redfern-Waterloo Authority enters with the provate sector must be recorded in the register of government contracts,
which is published in the Contracts Register or the Standing Offer Notices.
